Good Morning, it’s a beautiful Saturday in Myrtle Beach and we finally have the beach setup down to a science! Canopy up, umbrellas up, chairs up, boogie boards & rafts ready for the ocean. Everyone is fed and it’s just about mimosa time
Let me tell you about our much needed night out last night. I am sooooo not a fan of chain restaurants, but when it comes to seafood, Joe’s Crab Shack is a must. We look forward to it every year. Just like the girls said, when you have hundreds of people coming through your doors everyday, you know the seafood is fresh. It’s the perfect place for clean eats. Steamed everything with your choice of seasoning.
Of course we started out with cocktails, margaritas sans the sour mix & soda & some concoctions Klo & JJ had. For dinner we decided to go family style. We ordered 3 different steam pots and dug in. Our waiter obviously had a sense of humor as he took the time to write on all of our bibs…..why did I get smellin crabby?!? Oh well, I can take a joke. Chloe was in the mood for crawfish, I think she was trying to relive her days in Memphis earlier this year. Everyone tried them, but not a big hit amongst the crowd. This was part of the “Orleans Pot” a pound of crawfish, shrimp & andouille sausage. Next we have the “Ragin Cajun” Dungeness crab, queen crab, more shrimp & sausage. Lastly we had the “KJ Steam Pot” with snow crab, scallops & oysters. All pots come with a boiled potato & an ear of corn. Needless to say, we killed it, but I don’t recall anyone eating the sausage. Definitely worth the trip at about $30 each with a drink. If you choose to have your own pot, you’re looking at anywhere from $22 – $50, so sharing is good.
Tonight we’re having fresh grouper & shrimp right off the dock, there’s nothing better that being in a seaport with fresh fish.
Have a great day! I’m off to join the fam at the beach, I think I’m going to challenge them to a planking contest!
