So, you guys obviously know that I am a bonafide city girl.  I wouldn’t give up living in NYC for anything, and I’m grateful for the day-to-day excitement that it brings.  With that being said, if I didn’t have my family only a 2 hour train ride away for the occasional city escape, I may just lose my mind.  On more times than I can count, it has been a spontaneous trip.  There are of course times when I plan a jam-packed weekend of family visits, dinner with friends, etc.  Then there are the times like this past weekend, where I stumble upon 48 hours of no work and take the opportunity to get away to Connecticut to clear my head, cozy up, and rarely leave the house.  These weekends are the ones that really feed my soul, if you know what I mean.  The boys were at a wedding in Los Angeles, so it was an all girls chill fest, with plenty of productivity involved; workouts, shooting blog content for the week, cooking, baking, etc.  Needless to say, my heart is full!

It snowed again! It seriously looks sooo pretty on the trees, especially at the beach! Rosco is obsessed with the snow – he would whimper at the door until I opened it so he could play around.  Here he is on the top deck, chilling for hours.

I love marquee bar signs.  I know they’re not for everybody, but I definitely thing there is a way to do it that isn’t tacky!

Nothing makes me feel worse than when I am too busy to shoot blog content, work on shopping links for readers, or spend some time online researching ways to better myself as a blogger.  Luckily, I had time for all! I was able to get some advice around the web and hop in on webinars that will hopefully help me in providing better blog content for my readers.  Stay tuned!

Homemade pizzas FTW.  Honestly, we make pizzas no matter what time of year.  Remember that blog post from the summer? In the Winter, we bake.  In the Summer, we grill.  Personal sized pizzas are whats up!

As if pizza wasn’t great enough – enter soup for the soul.  Nothing like a hearty bowl of chicken soup on a snowy, cold night.  Mmmm, mmm.

This time around, I ditched my usual guest bedroom for the loft area upstairs.  I actually love it up there so much more – it reminds me of when my mom, sister and I lived in a condo on the beach (just down the street from this house!) and I had the entire top floor to myself.  It was like having a mini apartment.  This is the same feel, complete with couch area and a private deck!

And, as if pizza and chicken soup for the soul were not enough..enter chocolate chip cookies (the same from last week!) and red wine. It’s funny how my mom has everything possible stocked in her house at all times, so much so that I was able to make these on a whim.  This time I added cacao nibs and sliced almonds to the batch.  These were bite-sized with the intention of eating less, buuuuuut I’m pretty sure I grabbed one or three every time I went into the kitchen for the following 24 hours.

These two – the oddest of odd couples.

I even got to crash in on my sister and friend Stacy’s workout session on Sunday, which was fun and awesome to shake things up from my usual Pure Barre workouts as of late.

Overall, a great weekend for the soul indeed.

Have a great day!
