Ohhh it has certainly been a while since I’ve done a restaurant review on here!  I need to get on top of this! Especially to help out those out-of-towners that need some dinner recommendations.  After yet another amazing dinner at Malatesta last night, I thought – OMG what’s wrong with me – this should be on the blog!

I learned of Malatesta 4 (!!!) years ago when I first moved to the city thanks to my very fabulous friend Christie.  It’s one of the only restaurants I’ve frequented as the years go by.  Tucked downtown in the West Village (a trek for me as I’m on the Upper East Side), at Malatesta you can expect authentic, amazing Italian food, hunky off-the-boat Italian waiters dressed in casual sweaters and jeans, and a sexy, cozy, romantic atmosphere.  Never fails to disappoint.

The only grainy photo I snapped last night.  I’ve always loved the handwritten menu – and CHECK out those prices! SO affordable for NYC.

My 21st birthday.  Awwww memories.  Before NYC got a hold on me and I actually gave a damn about things like spray tans and a put-together appearance.  Haha.

Must-haves at Malatesta:

Bottle of their house Cabernet Sauv

Grilled Calamari Appetizer

Tomato Basil Mozz Salad

Spinach Gnocci

Although..you really can’t go wrong with any dish!

After dinner if you’re looking for something low-key and fun, you can head over to 675 Bar, an underground hotspot set up like a library with private cave-like rooms, pool tables, board games and good music.  Bringing the “geek” to super-trendy Meatpacking District.

You can ask for my girl Lindsay while you’re there and tell her I sent you to harass her! ;)
