Happy Hump Day! Do you have traditions in your house? We’ve got a great one you can start today. Whether or not you have young ones in your house, the Elf on a Shelf is a must holiday tradition. We heard about it last year just before Christmas, so I ran out and grabbed the last one on the shelf at Target. Hence the darker hair and skin tone, but hey we don’t care what color he is, it’s what he stands for.
You must first read his story and then give him/her a name. Once they have name, their magical Elf powers kick in, watching over everyone in the house and reporting nightly to the North Pole who’s been naughty or nice. When they return, they’re never in the same place. That’s where the fun begins. They tout the Elves as being a bit mischievous. This to me gives you free reign to use your imagination. And, thanks to Pinterest, the ideas are endless.
Our Elf’s name is Larry. It’s his shenanigans last night that led me to this post. If you look closely, you can see the tiny scissors he managed to find. At least his work is good
Obviously it’s the adults in the house that have the most fun with him. Personally, I think it’s lost on the 9 year old. Although he does say the one at his mom’s house is boring. I definitely recommend this to anyone with a sense of humor and creativity.
I think tonight I’m going to set him up with one of my clear espresso cups filled with hot chocolate & mini marshmallows in one hand, skewer a marshmallow in the other for roasting and leave him by the fireplace…hehehehe
What does your Elf do?
