Happy Monday Morn! I hope you guys enjoyed the first weekend of fall. It was gorgeous here and we took full advantage of it. Friday, Av came in from the city and we hit the Big E. For all you non New-Englanders, it’s the biggest fair in our area that celebrates everything New England from Connecticut to Maine. It’s held in Massachusetts, just over an hour away from us.
For as long as I can remember, we’ve making making the trip up there since the girls were little. This day is what we call a “so not FGD day,” yes, we have them from time to time. We don’t go with reckless abandon, but boy is it tough to find anything clean at a fair. It’s amazing how many things you can fry and the concoctions they come up with. I think I heard someone say something about a burger with 2 Krispy Kreme dougnuts as a bun with bacon….gross!
We arrived around 2:30. We started our eating frenzy with a shared fried dough, an unfortunate must have, oh so good. For a real meal, the best I could do was the potato skin leftover from Mark’s potato previously laden with sour cream and bacon. I quickly realized it was probably swabbed with butter. We ate our way through the day having just a taste of this and a taste of that. Have you ever had maple cotton candy? We played games, went on rides and finished our day with the traditional New England clam chowder in a bread bowl.
I think we all got the Fair bug out of our system. I was so happy to have my Kashi and berries Saturday morning and so was my body!
I could tell you all about the day, but in this case, I think the pictures are worth a thousand words. I hope they make you smile
The plan on Saturday morning was to try a Crossfit class with Av before she hit the train. Hmm, that didn’t happen, we all slept in wiped out from our fair romp. It was well worth it to have a relaxing morning as it was off to work for all of us in the late morning.
I don’t know about you guys, but does it make you go to sleep earlier because it gets darker earlier? I think I was asleep by 8:30…that’s old people status right there, but the reward is waking up bright and early.
Sunday morning I awoke to a text from Ava at 5:00am, “are you up? I’m just getting off my bar shift” Damn! Well, I’m up now and boy am I thankful for it. I accomplished so much. I love being up early when I don’t have to work and in case you guys don’t know, I love being a house frow
Here’s my day in a nutshell and I loved every minute of it; 6 loads of laundry done and put away, house cleaned, refrigerators cleaned, dog cleaned, deck washed.
Perfect day to detail the cars
I decided that my workout today would consist of yard work and I hike. Once I weeded the gardens, I hit the local nursery and loaded my car to the gills will mums, cabbage, pumpkins and hay. This is so exciting! I haven’t had the time or the house to take care of like this until now. Back at home, my neighbor approaches with a coffee cake she baked and a card. Are you serious? Are there really people still out there like this? I’ve been joking all along that we live next to “The Cleavers.” Perfect house, perfect children, perfect parents. Mary apologized for the delay as we had moved in earlier in the summer. I don’t care how long it took you, that is the sweetest thing ever! As you can see, everyone enjoyed it.
With new plants settled in the dirt, I realize we need some decor, so Chloe and I head to the Christmas Tree Shop. Before we go, it’s off for a quick hike on the local trails. Turns out they’re 5 blocks from us, this really is the perfect neighborhood.
Tah, dah! Welcome Halloween.
What was the highlight of your weekend?
Forgive me for the crazy pic borders, I was having fun using pic monkey
